where the quote below came from
style is the answer to everything.
a fresh way to approach a dull or a dangerous thing.
to do a dull thing with style is preferable
to doing a dangerous thing without style.
to do a dangerous thing with style, is what I call art.
--from Style by Charles Bukowski

i know this is ridiculous and juvenile, but reading this reminded me of Madonna's song "vogue". I wonder if she was influenced by Bukowski's writings?
lyrics i'm referencing:
Greta Garbo, and Monroe
Dietrich and DiMaggio
Marlon Brando, Jimmy Dean
On the cover of a magazine
Grace Kelly; Harlow, Jean
Picture of a beauty queen
Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire
Ginger Rogers, dance on air
They had style, they had grace
Rita Hayworth gave good face
Lauren, Katherine, Lana too
Bette Davis, we love you
Interesting thoughts...it does have the same kind of rhythm and if Madonna has ever heard the quote you know she liked it!
